Where do I begin with this story; it went way too fast. I woke up Sunday morning feeling fine and then around 10 am started to have contractions about every 10 minutes or so apart, but they were not strong at all and I was able to go about my day. I went to bed that night thinking that he was not going to be coming but then my mind changed around 12am. I woke up with serve pain in my back and contracting every 5 minutes I knew then that I was in labor. I called Labor and Delivery and she told me that I needed to be contracting for an hour and at least 3 to 4 minutes apart before coming in. I even told her that it was my second. Unfortunately Brent woke up around the same time in a hysterical mood where nothing would calm him down. It was hard to listen to him crying for me while being in a lot of pain and not able to comfort him. Finally I got in the shower to breath through the contractions and yelling to Ryan when I was having one so he could time them. After being in the shower for awhile I got out which was a mistake. It was much easier to get through the contractions in the shower. At this point Ryan told me that my contractions were about 2 minutes apart. I called a friend to come over and stay with Brent. While we were waiting for her to come over I decided to carry our bags to the car to take my mind off of the pain but instead I felt a lot of pressure and the urge to push.
At 1 am we left for the hospital, when we stepped right out side of our door my water broke. I went back inside to clean up. I yelled for Ryan because I felt like I needed to push and I knew something was not quite right; I might have even pushed a little. Ryan checked me and sure enough Gavin's head was right there. In a stern voice Ryan said that we needed to go now. We rushed to the hospital and on the way calling to warn them that I was "crowning". As soon as we got into the ER I was yelling for drugs which at the time it did not fully register that I would be delivering him naturally without drugs. There was just enough time to get my pants off, throw a gown on over my shirt, and climb on the bed. I had one contraction and then on the next one I pushed him out despite the doctor and nurse telling me not to push because they were not ready. Then they both introduced themselves, which I thought was weird being introduced after the fact, but I was just glad that it was all over.
