My Birthday!

I can't believe that I turned 30 this year, I am not in my 20's anymore. Ryan was post called so we were able to celebrate on my birthday. He arranged someone to watch the boys so we could go out. Every year we usually we go to the Cheesecake Factory for my birthday but this year i shock it up a bit. We went to Palms Thai in Hollywood otherwise know as the Thai restaurant with Elvis. We ordered way too much food but it was delicious and hit the spot. After dinner we went shopping at the Grove. Instead of a birthday cake I made cream puffs, we ate them after we picked the boys up. Brent bought me a hot wheel monster truck, which is his now. Ryan got me some perfume. Thanks boys for a great birthday! (Sorry no pics again)

Lately

So lately we have been in our normal routine, going to school, playgroups, running errands, etc. But we have done a couple of fun things which I didn't take any pictures.

The Dey family came to town for a week. We went to some parks, had them over for dinner and we went to Sweet Rose Creamery in Brentwood.

I went and got a facial, which was awesome!

We met some old friends from Davis at Downtown Disney. We ate at Tortilla Joes and walked around. We couldn't leave with going to the lego store and buying some candy at World of Disney.

On Super Bowl Sunday we had one of Ryan's co-workers and his family come over to watch the game and enjoy some yummy food! We ate teriyaki wings, potato skins, reuben sandwiches, hummus with pita chips, artichoke jalapeno dip, candy, brownies, and drank a lot of soda. It was a fun night!

Gavin really loves baseball so we decided to have a baseball themed party and it was the easiest one yet. The Menu: hot dogs, chips, drinks, popcorn, licorice, cracker jacks. I made chocolate cupcakes with white frosting and decorated them like baseballs. His friends played baseball and we able to get lots of candy from the baseball pinata.

Gavin turned 2 today and I can't believe it. We started the day off with chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. He went and played with some friends, ate lunch at In N Out with mommy and Brent. For dinner he enjoyed some roasted chicken, pasta with mushrooms and peas, and salad. We ended the day with a couple of presents and cupcakes.

Natural History Musesum

While Ryan was off in December we went to the Natural History Museum to see the new Dinosaur Exhibit, which was awesome! The boys really liked it but would not let us look at something for more than a minute.

Christmas Day

We started the morning by waking the boys up so we could do everything before church @ 10am. We ate homemade cinnamon rolls and a bacon cheese breakfast tart for breakfast. Then the boys played with their gifts from Santa while we got ready for church. After church the boys hung out while I cooked our Christmas dinner which consisted of ham, cheesy potatoes, broccoli, strawberry and avocado salad, rolls and cream puffs for dessert. It was a great Christmas and I especially loved that it was on Sunday.

Christmas Eve

I didn't feel like cooking dinner but we also didn't want to spend too much money going out since we had just gone to Legoland, Brent's baseball sign ups, and Christmas, etc. I had gotten a coupon in the mail a few weeks ago for $25 off your dinner @ M Street Kitchen in Santa Monica. I looked up the menu and thought it looked good so we went there for our Christmas Eve dinner. When we got there we notice appetizers were half off for happy hour and kids eat free. Score! Our bill ended up being like $10, so we gave a nice tip. When we got home we had the boys open 1 present, which was jammies then they took their baths while I finished wrapping the rest of the presents. It was a nice quit evening with just the 4 of us. I love staying here for the holidays.

December 15th: First Day of Legoland

The last couple of years we have taken Brent to Disneyland but this year he wanted to go to Legoland, which by the way is a whole lot cheaper than Disneyland. We drove down on Wednesday and stayed the night so we didn't have to rush driving down there. I still was not feeling that great because a few days before I had food poisoning. Ryan did everything and just let my sit down and rest while he took the boys on the rides. Also I was not looking forward to eating out 3 nights in a row but it turned out fine. The boys had a blast. We spent the day exploring only one side of the park, eating lunch, going to 2 shows and a little shopping. And their apple fries are to die for!

December 16th: Second Day at Legoland

We started the day by going to the Aquarium first and then we went to the other half of the park. We were going to go back to our car and eat lunch but none of us wanted to so we ate hamburgers which were good and not badly priced. Towards the end of the day we went back to the other side of the park so the boys could go on their favorite rides. After the park closed we went to a Mexican Resturant called Garcias, which was amazing. It was the most enjoyable dinner Ryan and I have had with the boys. One was asleep and the other one had already ate dinner at McDonalds. Then we headed home. It was a fun vacation and the boys absolutely loved it!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Ryan and I were both on the committee for our Ward Christmas party. It was a lot of work but well worth it. The decorations were fabulous, every wall was blue with snow flakes, lights all around, white pom poms hanging from the ceiling and cute decorations for the tables. We enjoyed ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and of course dessert. The primary children acted out the Nativity Scene. And Santa made his entrance with some local firefighters, bringing gifts for all the children. It was a wonderful night.

Annual Cookie Making

This year I decided to start making the sugar cookies while the boys were taking a bath and then they were able to roll and cut their own out with the left over dough. I did this so they would not destroy the other cookies, like every other year.

Since Ryan didn't get home until the late afternoon yesterday we went and got our Christmas tree after dinner. I have never gone and got a tree in the dark before, it was a new experience. Also the pictures I took are dark because I didn't have the flash on. When we got home we only had time to put the lights on since it was bedtime for the boys. It was a crazy night. So tonight we decorated it with our ornaments and ended the night with some hot chocolate.

Breakfast with Santa

This morning Westside Pavilion Mall had breakfast with Santa, so I decided to take the boys to kill some time until Ryan got off of work. They provided muffins, fruit cups and juice for the kids. After eating breakfast and meeting with Santa the mall had a scavenger hunt set up for the kids to get goodies at certain stores. One of the stores was Build a Bear, Brent really wanted to make Alvin from the Chipmunks. We left the store with one and he named him Rudolph. The boys had a lot of fun and it was a great way to pass the time since Ryan didn't get off until 3pm.

Countdown to Christmas

Last year I bought an advent calendar for Brent to count down the days until Christmas but this year I wanted to do something different. The calendar we bought last year was hard to get the chocolate out in one piece and I remember Brent complaining about it. So I knew I didn't want to do that this year plus I would have to buy 2 one for each boy. Yesterday I finished making our count down to Christmas calendar just in time to start it tonight with the boys.

Ryan is on call tonight and I bought frozen pizza's to eat for our thanksgiving dinner but my friend Nancy wouldn't have it so we went to their place for dinner. We had a big feast. I made rolls and we took ice cream and sparkling cider. The kids had a great time eating and playing together. On Saturday, I will be making our Thanksgiving feast so Ryan can enjoy it.

Last month, on October 26th Brent went on his first field trip to the Santa Ana Zoo. I was not able to go with him because I would have needed to find a babysitter for Gavin, plus they were gone all day. So Lucas mom took these pictures. Thank you! On Halloween Night Ryan was on call but my mom and aunt came into town from visiting my brother in Arizona. I wished they could have stayed longer than a day but it was nice having them here to help out with trick or treating. Gavin had a fever but was not going to miss out on it. He carried his bucket the entire night even when it got full and too heavy. He was afraid we were going to take all of his candy. Brent had a lot of fun. He did not like the idea of going up to the 3rd floor to get candy but he did it a couple of times. I am glad all of the Halloween festivities are over but now I wish I could get rid of all of this candy.

Trunk or Treat!

Last night was our Wards Trunk or Treat. Brent wanted to be a Ghostbuster for Halloween so I had to come up with something from the movie that Gavin could be. This is what I came up with

Once Gavin took off his hat there was a lot of confusion on who he was. Some thought he was a (fat) sailor and others thought he was Popeye. It was great to hear people get it right. The boys had fun playing the games and winning prizes. Gavin favorite game was the lollipop toss because the lollipop's were the prize. Brent's favorite was the cake walk. Brent didn't want to go in the maze or the haunted house, he was to scared. Brent did win the pumpkin contest for the most scariest pumpkin, the prize being a sugar cookie decorating kit. He was very proud of himself.

Halloween Hurrah

Tonight was Brent's schools Halloween Carnival. Brent wanted to dress up as Darth Vader and Gavin wanted to be Batman. Every time you asked Gavin if he was Batman he would throw his fisted hand in the air and say "BATMAN". It was very cute and we got a lot of comments. Ryan had to work late so he met us there and ate PINKS hot dog for dinner. The school also had a raffle, bake sell, pumpkin sell and a Haunted House, which we did not go in. We had a great night full of fun and sugar!

Halloween Treats

This Halloween season we have made a lot of treats and tried 2 new recipes. We have made sugar cookies (of course), caramel apples, which were divine, pumpkin chocolate whoppie pies, pumpkin mouse pie, and vanilla-orange cupcakes. I think we are all sugared out and won't be making anything until Thanksgiving or Christmas for that matter.

What has Gavin been up to lately is the question I get a lot. Last week our landscapers left out a big garbage can full of leaves, grass trimmings, etc. Gavin decided to pull it on himself. He was pinned between the garbage can and a bush that was near by. The landscapers came running and one even jumped the gate to help him. They were very apologetic but Gavin was fine as usual and thought about doing it again. His new favorite thing to do is jump from the couch to ottoman, which Brent taught him how to do.

The other day we were at Target and as usual I had to tighten the cart strap so tight that Gavin could barely breath but if I don't, he either climbs out or turns around and starts to pull Brent's hair. When we were standing in line to check out he pushed his stomach out with great force and broke the plastic clasp that holds the strap together. Then he proceeded to climb in and out of the cart. The looks from others started coming my way, they were probably thinking why doesn't she strap him in. I just wanted to yell, "He BROKE the STRAP"!

To top it all off, he has learned how to climb out of his bed. The other day I heard a scream followed by crying coming from his room. I found him pinned between the crib and wall. Most days are challenging with this boy but then he does something cute or makes you laugh and then all these things seem not so bad. We love you crazy G!

Annual Trip!

Yesterday we took our annual trip to Underwood Farms to kick off the Halloween season. To our surprise the weather was perfect, it was in the upper 70's with a cool breeze. Every year that we have been going has been blazing hot! Even with the cooler weather we could not pass up the shaved ice. I think we had 4 or 5. When it comes to eating shaved ice you better look down at your spoon before putting it in your mouth. I didn't do this and to my surprise I ended up with a bee in my mouth. Bee's love this sugary treat and one had landed on my spoon with out me knowing. It was disgusting and left a nasty taste in my mouth. It was a lot of fun watching the boys run around and explore. Their favorite part was the FAST tractor slide. When Gavin went down it he got turned side ways and at the bottom he flipped over and landed on his face. It was pretty funny!

Today was Gavin's first day of playgroup so Brent and I were able to spend one on one time together. Brent was hungry when I picked him up from school because he doesn't eat breakfast. He decided he wanted a pink doughnut from Primo's and then I suggested we go get some hot chocolate. He also decided to go to Toysrus. We had a great time. I don't think we have spent much time together since Gavin was born.

Brent turned 4 on September 3rd and I can not believe he is that old already. At his check up he weighed 38 lbs and is 42 inches tall. He had to get his booster shots, which I knew but did not tell him until we were already there because I did not want to fight with him to go. I had told Ryan that he had to get shots but obviously he forgot because when the doctor told Brent he had to get shots he looked at the doctor and said "My daddy said I didn't have to get any". Brent was a champ he got a total of 5 shots in the arm, including his flu shot. The next day his left arm was 2 to 3 times the size of his other arm, warm to the touch and red. He had some kind of reaction to the shots.

He loves to play with his friends, video games, bey blades, star wars, and still is not riding his bike. His favorite foods are sausage(veggie), pizza, macaroni and cheese, cottage cheese, and rainbow sherbet, among many other things. He loves to help me in the kitchen whether its cooking dinner or baking. He loves his brother and likes it when they wrestle. He wishes his daddy didn't have to go to work everyday. He loves life and we sure love him!

Ryan found a good deal on tickets (4 for $22) to the Dodger game against the Diamond backs, so we took the boys tonight. We found free parking and brought our own food, which we were able to buy the boys souvenirs. The boys got a little restless so we went on a walk and then moved to seats that were closer to home plate. The boys were running along this cement ledge, which there was not enough room for both of them. Brent pushed Gavin, he fell and smashed his head into the cement ground. You could hear the crunch. Ryan took him to calm him down and when they returned I noticed the bruised swollen forehead. We left around the 7th inning because Gavin didn't want to sit still anymore. It was a great night at the ball park, it would have been better if the Giants were playing.

Another Beach Day!

Ryan has been off on his 2 week vacation and today we took advantage of it and the awesome weather. 80 degrees at the beach is perfect. Ryan brought his boogie board along to use but Gavin would not let him. I had to pry him away from Ryan and while he was in the ocean Gavin was on the beach pointing to Ryan crying"Daddy!". I have know idea what is going to happen when he goes back to work because Gavin has become such a daddy's boy. The boys were not sure of the boogie board but eventually warmed up.

Cars Birthday Party!

Yesterday Saturday, September 3rd Brent turned 4 and we had a birthday party for him!

His friends that came: Gerardo, Elsa, Ava, Emily, Lauretta, Carson, Ethan, and Jackson

The kids had a car race, played a tire toss game, made tire track t-shirts, and hit a pinata. Brent of course had a lot of fun opening all of his gifts. We were excited to see the look on his face when he saw his bike we got him but he could care less.

Ryan's Birthday was on Wednesday August 31st, we celebrated at home, since he had to work. We made him his favorite breakfast before he had to go to work. And for dinner we had roasted herb chicken with zucchini and corn cakes and for his birthday cake we made him a Chocolate-Banana Ice Cream Pie, which was Yummy!! On Thursday, we went out to dinner with his Mom to the LA Food Show, in Manhattan Beach. We also pick up some dessert at Susie Cakes, which the owner was on Cupcake Wars. Brent kept telling me that we needed to get him something for his birthday, which I already bought Giant tickets(that Ryan knew about). So, I made him a Giant's pillow case. Happy Birthday!!

Jess and the kids came to town so we met them at the beach and spent the afternoon. It was perfect. The tide was low so I didn't have to worry too much about the boys playing in the ocean.

Everyday I tell these boys to stay out of the window, do not climb in the window, etc. On Friday I was making pork meatballs for dinner when I heard the screen in the window crash. When I looked over the screen is out and Gavin is outside crying. Then an Asian lady starts running over yelling through my window is your mommy home. I wanted to yell back that I wasn't. Really? I told her I was making dinner and that I would be right there. I had to wash the raw meat off my hands before I could come and get Gavin. I cleaned all the dirt off of him, wiped the blood off his mouth and he proceeded back to the window. Didn't he learn?
Well, now I get to today when I almost had a heart attack because of Gavin. We went over to a neighbors courtyard in our complex to have our craft day. After the kids made their craft they went about playing. I took my eye off of Gavin for a second and he was gone. I went looking in the buildings, hallways, bushes, and etc. I could not find him. Then this little boy told me that Gavin went through the gate. I look over and see this gate open and then I see Gavin in the middle of Sawtelle(the busy street we live on). I go running as fast as I can to get to him before something happens. But the Lord was already looking out for him because the cars on the street had already stopped and a man had gotten out of his car and picked him up. Gavin was not phased by it at all. Some days I feel like taking care of these two crazy boys is too much but not having them around would be harder. I am so grateful for my many blessings in life.

Today we went with some friends to the Hollywood Bowl to see Ken O'Malley and Ensemble-Irish Music and Dance which was part of Summer Sounds. The boys had a good time. Gavin loved the music and dancing, he even joined in. After the concert the kids headed over and were able to choose a craft to do. Brent picked to carve a piece of clay, which he is giving to Ryan for his birthday. We then ate lunch and headed home. It was a lot of fun.

Gavin 18 Months Old

He is still our sweet but crazy, active boy. I love that he will randomly come up and give you hugs and kisses. He is not talking much but understands everything you say to him and will follow simple commands. The one word I wish I could change that he says is mama, especially when he is yelling it at me all day long. His favorite foods are pancakes, banana's, vegetables, applesauce, watermelon, pretty much anything except cheese. He loves swimming, playing outside, reading books and singing songs. He is obsessed with dogs, when he see's them he barks at them. And when you ask him what a dogie sounds like he will bark as well. He is still tall and lean, but growing. He weighs 25lb. 7oz. and is 33 inch tall. We can't wait to see what the next 6 months will bring until he is 2 years old and hope he will soon start to talk more.

Cheesecake!

Today is National Cheesecake Day and I heard that The Cheesecake Factory was having half price cheesecake all day. I could not pass this up so I took my boys on a date tonight. I gave Brent the option to sit inside or out and he chose to sit outside. While waiting (just a couple of minutes) to be seated, Brent was eying the cheesecake in the case. He went through each cheesecake in the case asking me what kind they were and decided he was getting the Red Velvet. We had a great dinner sitting outside watching the water, boats, and kits. Both of the boys were well behaved, which surprised me! I think all the waiters around us were shocked as well. And since the cheesecake was half price we got 3 slices!!! The best part of the evening in my opinion.

Scariest Moment

Yesterday Gavin had been running a fever off and on but it didn't really seem that high and of course I couldn't get a good read on the thermometer. He took his normal 3 hour nap and then ate his snack while I got dinner ready. He did not eat much of his pasta and peas but I let him have a Popsicle to at least get some fluid down him. Brent and Gavin went into their room to play while I did the dishes, which they usually do. Gavin came out a few minutes later and shortly went back. Then Brent came out asking for a popscile. I asked him, "Where is Gavin"? Brent replied, "In his room". It took me a minute and then it registered that I did not hear anything in their room. I immediately went to their room, to find Gavin laying on the floor. My first thought was that he was asleep. But then I thought my boys just don't fall asleep on the ground. I went to wake him up but he was not responding and rolled one of his eyes into the back of his head. I immediately picked him up and he completely went limp. I rushed him to the living room and then he began to vomit but did not have the strength to so I was fishing it out of his mouth to keep his air way clear. He couldn't even keep his head up so I let him rest on my shoulder and he continued to vomit.
Meanwhile, I am telling Brent to go to our neighbors across the way(because he is a doctor) to tell them I need help and Gavin is sick. By the way, Ryan is on call over night. Brent goes over and just tells them Gavin is sick and comes back. I rush Gavin across the playground to our neighbors. As soon as I step in their apartment I hand what feels like my lifeless baby into his arms and just start to sob. What made it worst was Gavin started making this unusual moaning sound. Nate checks his temperature, vitals, etc. Gavin was breathing, his heart was racing and his temp was high, we decided to take him to the ER. I ran home to change my shirt, call Ryan and grab my purse. My neighbor drove us up to UCLA.
Once, we made it to the ER and I saw Ryan waiting for us I started to feel a little better. I thought finally I am not alone. The staff worked quickly to get us seen. They took his temperature again and it was 103.7 and they gave him some more tylenol. Gavin slept off and on the entire time we were there. The doctor said he had a febrile seizure, which was caused by a high fever. He was discharged 2 1/2 hours later. The good news of the night was Ryan came home with us. The bad news is I did not get much sleep because I couldn't sleep and because I got up to check on Gavin a couple of times. He is still not eating or drinking much but we are just trying to keep his temperature down. He seems to be back to his old self but a little more clingy. We sure love this little guy and hope we do not have to experience anything like this again.

Ryan finally had a Saturday off so we went to Virgina Avenue Park and the farmers market that is there. The boys had a blast playing in the water and we couldn't leave with out Gavin getting on the swing. He absolutely loves swinging and most of the time you have to pry his hands off to leave or bribe him with something.

4th of July

Ryan had today off which was nice because we were able to go see the fireworks as a family. Last year we missed out because we was working and I didn't want to take the boys by myself. We spent the morning swimming at our pool, then we ate lunch. While Big G was taking a nap, Brent and I made firework cookies. The cookies were a little difficult. Ryan went to grill our dinner to take to the fireworks but all the grills were taken, so we opted for subway sandwiches. Tonight I am grilling our dinner from last night, tri-tip sandwiches, grilled corn and fruit salad. We went to Culver High School to watch the fireworks this year because the Marina's were canceled. Ryan and I thought it was much easier than the Marina's. We will be watching theirs from now on. The bad part of the night was chasing Gavin around, he did not want to sit still until the fireworks started. He absolutely loved the fireworks.

Yesterday was Ryan's first day at UCLA and it was orientation day followed by dinner. He did not get home until after the boys went to bed. Brent was really upset that he did not get to see his daddy so I let him stay up because I did not want to have to clean up barf. He soon fell asleep on the couch but not before he and Gavin had some chocolate cookies and milk.

In Concord there is a little amusement park that I went to growing up. My mom and I took the boys there while we were visiting. Brent loved going on all the rides that he could. Gavin's favorite was the carousel which I had to pry his hands off of the pole because he did not want to get off.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Ryan. The boys are so lucky to have you as their daddy. Brent loves playing video games, wrestling, playing baseball and watching Wipeout with you. Gavin loves playing baseball as well, playing motor boat, wrestling, and watching sports with you. It is great to see their eyes light up when you come through the front door every night. Ryan had to work on Father's Day so we celebrated on Saturday. We grilled him some pork chops for dinner and we went to Sweet Rose Creamery for dessert. On Sunday, Brent and I made him some Chocolate Chip Cookie cupcakes. Yummy!

One night I took the boys over to G.G.'s house to play in her front yard. Brent immediately noticed her hose and started to pretend that he was putting out a fire. Brent throw the hose through the tree so he could try and climb it. Then his cousin Aidan came over and Brent thought he could pull him up by the hose. Also Brent pretended that her porch was their stage and they were on TV preforming a concert. It was Hilarious! Brent and Gavin had so much fun playing in her yard, I wish we had one.

The boys spent a lot of time with their cousins. We even took all 5 of them, under the age of 3 to get their pictures taken. We got one good picture of them and of course that was the first one they took.

Friday night my brother Adam graduated from college. The boys were pretty good except for Brent vomiting on the astro turf during the ceremony. I did catch most of it in a ziploc bag that I had with their snacks in it. The key to keeping them quit was all the junk food they ate. Saturday the 11th we had a graduation party for him at a relatives house. Which the boys loved because they had a back yard with a trampoline. On Sunday, my Aunt threw her grandson Nathan a birthday party, which was so much fun for all the kids. We stuffed our faces with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, fruit salad, broccoli salad, chips and of course cake. The cake was delicious, with strawberry and whip cream filling.

The boys and I took off for a 2 week stay in Northern California, we stayed with the Dey Family for 3 of those days. We pretty much just hung out for 3 days but we did go to some parks, the pool, and one night got some ice cream at Leatherby's in Roseville.

Yesterday was Brent's last day of preschool and they had a little graduation ceremony for them, which was really cute.

Memorial Day Weekend

On Saturday we spent a couple of hours at the pool, which I thought would be crowded but we were the only ones there. Score! Ryan was home for dinner on Sunday so we BBQ some hamburger, and enjoyed baked beans and a yummy fruit salad. And for dessert we made Smores. On Monday, Ryan wasn't around again so we hit up some of the Memorial Day sales. For dinner I cooked up some chicken mango sausages with corn on the cob and more fruit salad. Ryan made it home in time to go to Sweet Rose Creamery with us. They have organic homemade ice cream, which is to die for. They are a little pricey but we will definitely go back.

Gavin 16 Month Old

Yesterday Gavin turned 16 months old, I can not believe how much he has grown. I took him in for his 15 month well check, he is still tall and lean. I forget his stats but the doctor said he did grow some. Gavin is a climber like Brent, he climbs out of his high chair, climbs on the kitchen table and loves to push the kitchen chairs around, and he also climbs on the entertainment center. I am waiting for him to start climbing out of his crib. He is one busy little guy. I feel like he is busier than Brent or maybe not. I just can't remember. Everything Brent has he wants, which drives me nuts. Gavin even has to have the same type of cup. He has started to eat with a spoon and fork, and if I forget to give him one he we let me know. He say's mama, dadda (sometimes), nini (pacifier), banana, ball, and now motor boat. He says mama for food and drink but says them differently so I know which one he wants. He loves to play outside and throw balls around and chase after them. He is getting his molar's and not very happy about it. I think it is funny that he still only has 2 bottom teeth. He takes one nap a day and sleeps for 4 hours, heaven! We love him and can't image our life without him.

Last weekend Ryan's mom came to visit. It was nice to spend time with her and the boys sure loved it. We went and saw the movie RIO which was really good from what I watched. Gavin would not sit still and was cranky because of all the teeth he had coming in. We made a trip to Target and ate Mc Donald's for lunch. We also went to the Grove to have dinner at Wood Ranch BBQ and Grill, which was amazing. The last time we ate there was for Ryan's birthday before I had Brent and the ribs were as good then as they are now. The next time we go out to eat will be at Maggiano's Little Italy at the Grove. Grandma brought the stuff to make cake pops which was a lot of fun to make also messy. Thank you for coming and spending time with us.

Mother's Day

For Mother's day Brent made me 2 sweet gifts which Ryan thought was enough. Oh was he wrong. I made him feel guilty the rest of the day. I guess I was smart and bought myself a new skirt and necklace. I made some cinnamon sugar bread for breakfast and then we rushed off to church. I was able to relax the rest of the day until I had to start preparing dinner, which consisted of grilled pork chops, roasted potatoes and carrots. We did not have dessert because I was too tired to make anything. But the next night I enjoyed several Sprinkle cupcakes that Ryan brought home. I guess the guilt got to him.

Finally a Day Off

The last time Ryan had a day off was on April 29th when Brent had his procedure. We spent the day sleeping in and going to the Annual Culver City Car Show, which is always a lot of fun. After the car show we just had to go to Wendy's for a frosty. We never seem to be in that area so we couldn't pass it up.

Pool, Beach, and the Zoo

It has been like Summer here so we have been taking advantage of it by going to our pool every day and to the beach in Santa Monica. I did not get any pictures of us at the beach because when we got there I notice that the camera's battery was not charged. Gavin has no fear when it comes to the pool or the ocean for that matter. He will just walk on in and hopes someone is there to catch him before he gets a mouth full of water. Brent is still my cautious one, he plays it safe by not going in at all. I was proud of him when a wave knocked him down and he continued to play in the ocean. I gave Brent the option of going to the Zoo or the beach yesterday and he decided to go to the Zoo. Of course it was the hottest day ever.

Brent visit to UCLA Hospital

About 3 weeks ago Brent started having blood in his stool after going to his pediatrician a couple of times. He decided to draw blood, which was an ordeal in it self. Luckily Ryan made it home in time to come hold Brent while they drew his blood. He told the Doctor that he was very nervous. His doctor wanted him to see a Gastroenterologist. Which I thought great how long is this going to drag on for since we have an HMO and have to get authorization. The next day (Friday) I get a call they have the authorization and here's the number to call for an appointment with the pediatric Gastroenterologist. The blood work came back normal. I call and get an appointment for that following Tuesday and luckily again Ryan is off in the morning so he can go with us. The Gastroenterologist thought that it might be a polyp and tried to feel around to see but no such luck. He decided to schedule a flexi- sigmoidoscopy for the following Friday, which was yesterday. We explained it to Brent as much as we could but I was still very nervous how he would react when we got to the hospital. How they were going to get an IV in? And the list could go on of all my worries. He did a great job. They let us go into the procedure room with him and let us watch while they gave him some gas before putting the IV. At this point I had to leave. I could not watch him twitching and rolling his eyes into the back of his head (writing this is making me tear up). I went to the waiting room while Ryan stayed in there for the entire procedure. He came out of it find and was back to himself about an hour later. He was very excited to eat the pink doughnut that Ryan bought him on the way to get the car. He was also excited to play his new Toy Story 3 video game.

Yesterday our ward had an Easter breakfast and egg hunt at Clover Park, which they have been doing for the last couple of years. This year we invited Brent's friend Gerardo and his family. The boys had a great time playing and eating candy, instead of eating breakfast.

Easter Playgroup

On Friday it was our turn to host playgroup so we decided to have a little Easter party. The night before Brent and I made sugar cookies for the kids to decorate. Then we had an Easter egg hunt around our place. The kids played outside for a little bit until Gavin got hit by the swing. They had a lot of fun and it was nice that none of them fought.

Long Beach Aquarium

Today Brent's preschool class went on a field trip the Aquarium and Ryan was able to come with us. The last time we went was 1 1/2 years ago. Both of the boys really loved it, especially Gavin. After the Aquarium went over to the Light House that is near by in the Marina to look at it but instead Ryan decided to roll down the hill. I didn't get it on our camera because it ran out of battery but we got it on Ryan's iphone. I will have to share it soon.

Gavin does. As soon as he see's it he wants to snuggle or lay on the ground with it. The other day I wrapped it around his neck so he could walk around with it better. Usually he likes to drag it behind him. He doesn't care which one as long as it is a Aden & Anais Muslin blanket, thankfully we have four of them.

Easter Festivities

Every year UCLA apartment association puts on an Easter social. They always have a bounce house, egg hunt, puppet show, magician, food (usually pizza) and of course the Easter Bunny. We had a lot of fun and Gavin loved hunting for Easter eggs. Brent just wanted me to find them for him. I think he thought it was too hard, like picking up his toys. Gavin and I left early because he still was not feeling well and had diarrhea down his leg and on me, but we still had a good time.

Giants vs Dodgers

Last night Ryan took Brent to the Giants vs Dodger baseball game. Which I thought would be great for me to have some quiet time when Gavin went down for bed but he was up often because of a stomach bug. I was just grateful that they had a good time and made it home safely. I was worried because the night before a Giants fan was seriously injured by a Dodger fan. They had a great time and Brent got his first baseball during batting practice, thanks to Giants Runzel. It took Ryan 25 years to get a MLB ball. Brent got one at his second game. Brent's response,
" what I want a ball for?". Ugh!

Sick Again

Friday night I started to not feel that well and then Saturday morning I woke up to the room spinning, my head pounding, feeling nausea, and not being able to move my neck. To top it off the boys have runny noses and a cough again. And now today I am congested and have a cough. I think this is the worst winter we have had being sick. I am just grateful that Ryan was home yesterday and this morning to can take care of us. Tonight I could not handle the boys anymore so I put Toy Story 2 on and surprisingly Gavin sat with Brent and watched most of it. Here are some pictures I took of them.

Cousin Aidan came to Visit

So this past weekend my brother Adam and his family came to visit and also they came to take Brent's cousin Aidan to Disneyland. We didn't do much but stay in and hang out because of the rainy weather. Sunday was cousin Aidan's 3rd Birthday so we celebrated it at our place. Aidan is obsessed with Mickey Mouse. The boys watched a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, we ate homemade Macaroni and Cheese with Pesto and Caesar salad for dinner, and for his birthday cake I made Mickey Mouse cupcakes.

Thursday, March 10th: California Adventure

We got to California Adventure an hour early to get tickets for the World of Color Show. The next thing on our list to do was to get Brent an autograph book. Last year he saw a bunch of kids with these books and wanted one but we thought he was too young to have one. The first autograph was Mr. Incredible. He also got Goofy's, Mickey's, Woody's, and Jessie's. We went on Soarin' over California, Muppet Vision 3D, Monster Inc., most of the ride's in Bug's Land, Mickey's Fun Wheel, Toy Story Mania. A lot things were under construction. They are making Radiator Springs from Cars, Ariel Palace is still not open(they were working on it last year), a big section past Mickey's Fun Wheel was under construction, Club House Disney is being turned into Disney Junior. We we on Toy Story Mania 4 times, this was Brent's favorite ride. We walked over to Downtown Disney and ate dinner before the World of Color Show at 8:15 pm. Brent did not stay awake through the show but Gavin did.

This year Brent went on a lot more rides, mainly because he was taller. We got him to go on Peter Pan last year he thought it looked to scary. He really wanted to go on Indiana Jones but was not tall enough but maybe next year. He saw and got autographs from Woody, Jessie, Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, Buzz Lightyear. Brent's favorite ride was Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster. He really loved seeing the Fantasmic Show and was talking about it for days after. Thanks Anne for Brent's Mickey t-shirt, he insisted on wearing it to Disneyland.

Oceanside with the Boyers

Ryan and Rob think it was faint for them to have the same week off for vacation and it so happens the Boyer's were going to be in Oceanside. We spent a couple of days with them enjoying swimming, playing tennis and basketball, shopping, eating great food and of course the beach. We had a lot of fun catching up and of course the guys competing every second, like old times.

Another Fever

Gavin has another fever. What could it be this time? I think we just need to stay home and not go anywhere for awhile. Oh, wait I have to help out at preschool and teach next week. Let see what else we can pick up.

Sickness Go Away

A couple of weeks ago Brent came down with pink eye, even though he put drops in his eyes every 4 hours and constantly washing our hands he got it in the other eye. Ryan has come down with a cold and cough. A week later Gavin got it in both of his eyes and a few days later he had an temperature of 103 and did not sleep at all. I called on Friday to get him in to see the doctor but no such luck they were booked. We had another sleepless night. The next morning we saw the doctor, he has a double ear infection. I hope this antibiotic works. I am tired of the fevers, green runny nose, goopy eyes, and the coughing. Brent is off and on with a runny nose and cough. Now I have a cough and sore throat. Is this ever going to end? I guess it is just the time of year.

Valentine's Day!

Today, Ryan did not have to go into work until 8pm so Brent took him breakfast in bed, heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes and a cold glass of milk. Brent had preschool, so I was able to do a little shopping without the boys. Then I went back to preschool for Brent's Valentine's Party, which was fun as always. I made some yummy brownie cupcakes with pink butter cream frosting.We just hung out the rest of the day. For dinner Ryan grilled some pork chops, asparagus and zucchini, while I made some buttermilk mashed potatoes. After dinner we enjoyed some leftover cupcakes.

Another Birthday!

We just celebrated Gavin's birthday and now we are celebrating mine. Brent has been asking me what kind of party do I want. I told him that Mommy doesn't get a party unless you or Daddy plan it. A couple days later Brent said I needed a pink party and so we went to Party City an he pick out the stuff for my pink party. On my birthday I took Brent to the doctor's because he had pink eye, then we went to In-n-Out for lunch by LAX so he could watch the airplanes come in and take off. It wouldn't be a birthday without Brent throwing up. We also did a little shopping. That night we had grilled chicken (in my favorite marinade), roasted red potatoes with onions, and broccoli. And for dessert a White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. Today, Ryan took me out to lunch at the LA Food Show in Manhattan Beach, without the kids. We also got to do a little browsing and shopping that we would have not done with the boys.

1 Year Old Pictures

I took Gavin the week after his Birthday to get his pictures taken. He did really well but I think the photographer was glad to see us go. Gavin decided to throw the bench and the stool at the photographer. She quickly responded by saying " I think we have enough good ones". And she was right, it was hard to choose.

Gavin 12 Month Old

We can't believe that it has already been a year since you enter this world. Gavin has many loves in life: his Big Brother, vegetables, baby dolls, throwing balls (and other objects), playing outside, being chased, and of course his mama. He has 6 teeth, which is more than Brent had at this age. And he loves to use those teeth by biting his mama. He has learned to stand up from sitting. He loves chasing his brother around the house but by the time he reaches him, Brent is usually coming back to where Gavin started. He loves to clap his hands (he usually does this when he is walking). He waves hello and good-bye. He is still easy going but on occasion he throws a fit. When he gets upset he will throw his head back and then usually fall backwards on the ground. It is pretty funny. He still sleeps great and takes 2 naps. He weighs 21 lb. 12 oz(25%) and almost 32 inches long(75%). Gavin is tall and lean, but he eats like a pig. We love you Big G and are so glad you are a part of our family.

Fire Station #43

Today, Brent went on a field trip with his preschool class to a Fire Station. Which was really cool since Brent keeps telling me that is what he wants to be when he grows up.

The first thing Gavin heard when he woke up this morning was: "It's your birthday Big G", yelled Brent. He started the morning with homemade buttermilk pancakes and banana's. Later that morning we went and saw the movie Tangled and ate a bunch of popcorn and snacks. Gavin took his usual afternoon nap. For his birthday dinner per request of Brent, he ate chicken strips, baked fries, and broccoli and for dessert he had a cupcake. After dinner he opened up a few gifts. It was a great day. Happy Birthday Big G!

Pool Party in January

Today we met a bunch of friends at the pool and had a BBQ. Gavin thought the pool was a giant bath tub, he had no fear. It was a lot of fun and the warm sun felt so good. I think I could have stayed out there all day long but we had to leave because Big G needed a nap. I just love Southern California, you can beat the weather.

Travel Town

Ryan has been having weekends off so we have been taking advantage of it and spending it doing something fun. Yesterday we went to Travel Town, which Brent had a blast and didn't want to leave even though it was pretty chilly outside.

This engine was built in 1914 and the wheels are little taller than Ryan, which was amazing to see.
